Rontrell Callahan
Rontrell Callahan has been teaching at La Vergne High School since 2016. His responsibilities include directing the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Marching Band. In addition, he also teaches Basic Music Theory, and Dual Enrollment General Music and oversees extra-curricular band activities such as pep band. Prior to teaching at LaVergne H.S, Mr.Callahan began his teaching career at Harris Middle School in Shelbyville, TN.
Mr.Callahan received his Bachelor of Music degree (Music Education) from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. He also earned a Master of Music degree (Music Education) from Tennessee State University.
His professional affiliations includes: Middle Tennessee State Band and Orchestra Association (MTSBOA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA), and Tennessee Band Master Association (TBA). He is also an alumni member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America Inc.
Mr. Callahan is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and currently resides in Nashville, TN with his wife Kanetha Callahan, daughter Kiznie Callahan, and their dog Onyx.
